CAMBRIDGE PUNT SUNK

Frinton skipper Kyran Young followed form by losing the toss at home to Cambridge Granta & being asked to bat. In form opening bat Michael Griggs showed his class and held his wicket with support from Young (27) Mervyn Westfield (20) & Tom Benn (26). When Griggs eventually departed for 104 it fell to Kemar Smith to hit a quick 21 batting at 9 to see Frinton reach a competitive total of 216. Olly Simonsen was the pick of the Granta bowlers picking up 3 for 44 off his 15 overs.

The Frinton bowling attack got off to the best possible start with Dan Carter removing Northants batsman Ben Claydon for a duck in his first over. Carter led the attack collecting 5 wickets for 49 runs off his 17 overs. With a brace for Westfield & three for Smith the visitors struggled to put any meaningful partnerships together and were skittled out for 122 handing Frinton a 30 point victory. Frinton now move above Granta to fourth place in the East Anglian Premier League.
